What is Cardano?

Nobody explains “What is Cardano?” better than Charles Hoskinson himself, CEO of IOG and Founder of Cardano.

This legendary whiteboard video from October 2017 is to Cardano what Satoshi’s whitepaper is to Bitcoin.

Cardano is a 3rd generation blockchain with a philosophy to solve three categories of issues associated with the 1st (Bitcoin) and 2nd (Ethereum) generation of blockchains, namely:

  1. Scalability
  2. Interoperability
  3. Sustainability
And Cardano is built based upon two principles:
 
  1. Peer Review
  2. High Assurance Code

What is the Mission of Cardano?

This concise 2-minute video by IOG explains the mission of Cardano, or what Cardano is trying to accomplish:
